SMS Invention Convention

The Connecticut Invention Convention is a 33 year-old program, which builds standards-based inquiry skills in children by introducing and leading them through the creation of their own invention to solve a problem of their own choosing. In 2015, over 15,000 students in grades K to 8 from 219 schools across Connecticut participated in this life-changing experience.

The Schaghticoke Inventors program will require participants to attend a once weekly after-school meeting and independently create a working invention outside school.  This program will run for 10 weeks from December to March culminating with a judged local invention fair here at SMS.  Top inventions will be selected to attend the regional competition at WCSU, and if accepted, the final competition at UCONN.

Acceptance into the program is limited to 25 students.  In order to be considered, students will be required to submit their permission slip prior to the December 12 start date.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Zimmitti in room 244. The permission slip is at the top of this page, under Files.
